Behind the Success of Being Ranked the No. 1 Rajabhat University in Thailand for the 11th Time

Following the announcement of the Webometrics Ranking results from Spain in January 2020, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University once again secured its position as the top-ranked Rajabhat University in Thailand. In the Rajamangala University of Technology group, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi ranked first, while Rangsit University led among private universities, and Chulalongkorn University regained the top national ranking.

Among Rajabhat Universities, Suan Sunandha ranked 18th in Thailand and 2,452nd in the world, improving from its July 2019 ranking of 19th nationally and 2,477th globally. This reflects a continued upward trend in international rankings.

The success can be attributed to the visionary leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Rueangdet Kerdwichai, the current President, who recognized the importance of moving beyond traditional comfort zones and adapting to global changes.

Without such leadership and willingness to embrace transformation, the University might have faced challenges similar to many institutions affected by disruptive technologies and demographic shifts toward an aging society.

Associate Professor Dr. Rueangdet Kerdwichai has clearly stated the University’s vision to become a leading international institution and a high-performance organization, emphasizing excellence in personnel and graduate quality.

The University has set strategic goals to rank among the top 15 universities in Thailand, achieve the number one position among Rajabhat Universities, and be ranked within the top 150 globally. It also aims to be listed in global rankings such as QS World University Rankings.

These efforts demonstrate that achieving international standards enhances the University’s ability to attract both domestic and international students, effectively addressing challenges in higher education.

Despite the challenges faced by Thailand’s higher education sector, including declining birth rates and rapid technological changes, strong leadership can turn crises into opportunities.

Today, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University proudly holds the title of the No. 1 Rajabhat University in Thailand for the 11th time.
